Richard Siddons obtained his degree in Chemical Engineering from Leeds University in 1984. He joined Burgoynes in 1995 and was initially based in the Basingstoke office. He moved to the Ilkley office in 2000. Richard predominantly investigates a diverse range of fires and gas and vapour phase explosions. He also has particular experience of carbon monoxide poisonings and chemical engineering process problems. He has investigated more than 800 incidents, in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, America and Indonesia. His investigations have culminated in providing expert witness evidence in criminal cases, civil litigation cases and at Coroner's inquests. He has acted as a single joint expert.
On leaving university Richard worked for British Gas in the industrial and commercial sector of the natural gas utilisation industry, providing technical assistance and solutions covering a wide variety of plant and appliances in client processes. One of his major roles encompassed equipment safety standards and industry codes of practice, in both application and formulation.
