Experience:

Stuart Mortimore spent ten years working for GEC Turbine Generators on large power stations in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea, where he was latterly the Site Electrical Advisor to the Korean Electric Power Company on a 600 MW nuclear installation. He was then employed by Y-ARD, a Glasgow based Marine Consultancy, for ten years, where he worked on projects for the Royal Navy. He commenced his marine consultancy work as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, from which position he progressed via Electrical Project Leader and Lead Project Designer, in which later role he assumed total responsibility for the mechanical and electrical design of the project, to Project Manager of a nine figure strategic nuclear weapon loading facility. After a brief period as Electrical Construction Manager for South Zone of Railtrack, the forerunner to Network Rail, he joined Burgoynes as an Associate in 1994 and became a partner in 2007.

Since joining Burgoynes his principal areas of work have been the investigation of fires and explosions. He has also investigated many incidents of an engineering nature that included electrocutions, problems with alarm equipment, control equipment malfunctions and electricity distribution, switching and generating equipment failures. In addition to undertaking the foregoing investigations, he has lectured to members of the Insurance fraternity and to Police forensics personnel. A number of his cases have been undertaken on behalf of various Police Forces and the Procurator Fiscal Service in Scotland. He has provided expert testimony within Civil and Criminal Courts in both Scotland and England.

During his career at Burgoynes, he has investigated over 1000 incidents. In addition to working on cases within the United Kingdom, he has investigated incidents in several other European countries, the Middle East and South America. After a short spell in the London office, he transferred to his current base in Glasgow.
