Tom Woodhall joined Dr J H Burgoyne and Partners in 2006 as an investigator of fires and explosions. Since joining he has investigated a range of incidents in both private dwellings and commercial buildings. Tom is based in the firm’s Cardiff office but has previously worked in the Glasgow and Ilkley offices.
Having completed his first degree in Chemistry at the University of Wales, Swansea, which included a one-year research placement in Japan, Tom studied for his PhD at the University of Leeds. His PhD research, utilised biotechnology to overcome complex chemical problems – using evolved enzymes to synthesise anti-influenza like compounds. He remained at the University of Leeds as a postdoctoral fellow carrying out research in chemical genetics and diversity oriented synthesis. Subsequently, Tom undertook postdoctoral research into the synthesis of anti-cancer drug molecules at RWTH-Aachen in Germany.
