Jonathan Sykes

Jonathan Sykes joined Dr JH Burgoyne & Partners (Int’l) Ltd at our Singapore office in 2001. He has carried out numerous investigations to determine the cause of incidents that involve the failure of materials and mechanical equipment. Incidents investigated include corrosion, fracture, fatigue cracking, embrittlement and degradation of metallic, plastic and ceramic components. He has provided expert witness evidence both in court and at arbitration proceedings.

Dr Sykes is experienced in the investigation of both land based and marine incidents, at various locations around Asia. Land based incidents that he has investigated include corrosion failures in chemical process plants and paper mills, failures in gas and steam turbines and incidents involving cranes. Marine incidents he has investigated include corrosion in cargo tanks, failures of engines, rudders and propellers and paint coating failures.

Prior to joining Burgoynes, Dr Sykes was employed at a corrosion and materials consultancy, where he also carried out numerous investigations into the cause of incidents, at locations within Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
