Andrew obtained his first degree in Chemistry from the University of Salford in 1987.  He remained there to undertake research into electrochemical aspects of materials for advanced batteries for which he was awarded a PhD.  After his PhD studies Andrew undertook four years research into combustion based enhanced oil recovery techniques.  In 1996 he joined a venture capital funded company to develop a novel flame spray technology for the production of heating elements.

Andrew joined Burgoynes in 1999.  He specialises in the investigation of fires and explosions including incidents involving chemical plant.  He has investigated over 500 incidents ranging from small domestic fires to multi-million pound commercial and industrial losses.  Andrew has given evidence in Crown Court and has lectured on aspects of forensic investigations. Andrew is also part of the team which provides Burgoynes Contamination Assessment Service.
