Barry obtained his degree in Chemistry from Bristol University and was awarded a PhD at UMIST, Manchester in Electrochemistry and Metallurgy. 

Barry has over 20 years experience in the post-fire contamination assessment and remediation practices.  He has managed all technical matters relating to an investigation, analysis, reinstatement, decontamination and cleaning of materials, equipment, machines and electronics damaged by fire, flood, smoke, or chemical or biological contaminants.

Before joining Burgoynes Barry spent 14 years at Imbach (UK) Limited  where he was involved with the development and implementation of analytical and reinstatement procedures.  He managed teams carrying out reinstatement, particularly on large jobs such as construction sites with multiple trade-contractor customers.  He is also an experienced lecturer, author and expert witness.
