Darren studied Chemistry at the University of Durham from where he was awarded his Master in Science degree and his doctoral degree. He is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

After two years in the chemical industry as a senior research and development chemist, Darren joined Burgoynes in 2005 as an associate. Since that time he has been involved in the investigation of fires and explosions and has undertaken over 300 investigations in the UK and Europe into a wide variety of incidents. Whilst based at the firm’s Stevenage office, he has dealt with incidents involving, but not limited to, domestic, commercial, and industrial buildings as well as motorised equipment and vehicles.
