Justin obtained his degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Exeter and Loughborough University, and he is an associate member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.

Justin spent eight years working in the water and chemical process industries, where he was primarily involved in the development of bespoke processes for the treatment of potable water, industrial process water, and industrial waste waters.  His various roles covered technical aspects of process development, from concept through to realisation, as well as project management and the operation of safety systems.  Justin worked with clients in the UK, mainland Europe, the USA, India and China, including companies in the petrochemical, power generation, engineered wood, and  bulk chemical manufacturing industries

Justin joined Burgoynes in 2006 and is principally involved in the investigation of fires and explosions, ranging from small domestic incidents to large commercial and industrial losses.  He has also conducted detailed investigations into incidents of electrical faults, burglary, mechanical failures, and process plant failures, where he continues to apply his academic and industrial experience.  Justin has prepared written evidence in accordance with part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules and has presented expert evidence in Court.

Justin is a former vice chairman of The Filtration Society.
