Keith is qualified in chemistry and analytical chemistry.  He had spent 16 years with the government Forensic Science Service, mainly in criminal casework for the Police and Crown Prosecution Service.  Keith joined Burgoynes in 1997 and became a Partner in 2003. 

Since joining the Partnership he has investigated more than 1000 incidents, mostly involving fires, explosions and other combustion related incidents such as carbon monoxide poisoning.  Keith has undertaken investigations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and has given evidence in criminal and civil courts on many occasions.

The land based fires he has investigated range from small domestic properties and appliances to large commercial premises.  He has particular interests in fires involving oil firing equipment, equipment heating combustible liquids, extraction duct systems, fires in thatched buildings and vehicles. Also in the operation and performance of portable and fixed fire fighting equipment.

Keith has been in involved in numerous marine investigations including fires in container vessels, bulk and general purpose carriers, passenger ferries, car carriers and yachts.  These fires have occurred in engine rooms and cargo holds.  Keith has also given advice and supervised the extinguishing of fires in various cargos.
