Louise obtained a BEng honours degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham. She then worked in the Process Safety Industry and was principally involved with the ignition sensitivity and explosion severity of dust, vapour and gas explosions. She also provided advice on explosion protection, classification for transportation and storage of chemicals and electrostatic hazards associated with the process industry. Following that Louise worked as a chemical process engineer within an optical fibre manufacturing facility. Louise joined Burgoynes in 1999 and became a partner in 2006. She specialises in fires and explosions, involving both marine vessels and land-based premises, chemical process incidents and chemical contamination. From 2000 to 2007 Louise worked for Burgoynes in Singapore before returning to the London office. The incidents she has investigated range from small domestic fires to multi-million pound losses in industrial premises and plant in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia. Louise has undertaken many marine investigations including fires in engine rooms, accommodation, cargo tank and hold, and container fires on general cargo vessels, bulk carriers, oil and clean product tankers, reefers, container vessels and luxury motor yachts. Her investigations have included fires that have occurred in shipyards and ports, as well as those at sea. She has also given advice on and supervised the extinguishment of fire in various cargoes. In addition, Louise has directed and overseen analyses undertaken in matters involving chemical cargo contamination. As a result of her investigations Louise has conducted detailed investigations, prepared reports and provided advice to Counsel. Louise has lectured to various insurance organisations on fire investigation. |
