In 2002 Paul obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, following which he worked with Bristol Implant Research Centre designing experimental methods for determining the metal species released in-vivo from cobalt-chrome orthopaedic implants.  He is also a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Paul joined Burgoynes in 2009 and specialises in the investigation of fires and explosions.  He has been directly involved in determining the cause and circumstances of fire incidents at both domestic and industrial premises since 2005.  Paul has prepared expert opinion for both criminal and civil litigation.
