Robin gained his BTech in Chemistry from the University of Bradford in 1969 and was awarded his PhD in 1972. He went on to obtain post doctoral research experience at Queen Mary College, London University and University of Swansea. From 1974 to 1979 Robin undertook research at the Home Office Central Research Establishment and was part of the team formed to evaluate and introduce breath alcohol testing equipment into UK Police stations. He worked in the Chemistry Department of the Home Office Forensic Service, Wetherby from 1979 to 1982 providing expert evidence in murder, arson, burglary and road traffic offence trials. He served on the Counsel of the Forensic Science Society and was interim editor of its Scientific Journal. Robin joined Burgoynes in 1982 and he became a Partner in 1989, opening the Glasgow Office the same year. He returned to Ilkley in 1997 but was seconded to Dr J H Burgoyne (Intl) Ltd, Dublin Office from 2000 to 2001. In 2004 Robin retired as a Partner to become a Consultant. Robin has investigated in the region of 800 incidents of fire and explosion both in the UK and in many other parts of the world. He has investigated many high profile incidents including the fire at York Minster and those on board "NEDLLOYD RECIFE", "CONTSHIP FRANCE" and "HYUNDAI FORTUNE". He has also provided advice on fire extinguishment and incidents involving hazardous chemicals on board ships. |
