Sebastian obtained his first Chemistry degree from Imperial College and was awarded his PhD jointly between Imperial College and Manchester Materials Science Centre, as a result of his research in the field of nanotechnology and the synthesis and characterisation of quantum dots by wet chemical routes.

Sebastian acquired considerable experience working with toxic, air-sensitive and pyrophoric chemicals and also gained experience of a wide variety of analytical techniques.  During the course of his academic career Sebastian has published several papers in scientific journals.

Sebastian joined Burgoynes in 2005 and he principally investigates fires and explosions.  During his time with Burgoynes he has investigated fires and explosions ranging from small domestic appliance fires to large commercial losses both in the UK and overseas.  He is part of the team which provides Burgoynes Contamination Assessment Service.  Sebastian is fluent in Danish, Italian, German, French and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
