Simon obtained his Bachelor and Doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Brunel University.  He spent the following 15 months at Delphi Diesel Systems, where he was quickly promoted to lead analyst, leading and directing the computational analysis for a major injection systems project.

Simon joined Burgoynes in 2006.  Since then Simon has been continuously engaged in the detailed investigation of over 300 mechanical engineering related cases, both in the UK and overseas.  He has provided advice to Counsel and presented expert testimony in Court.

Engineering incidents investigated include accidents involving lifts and cranes, hydraulic system failures, mechanical failures, defective design, structural collapse, and fatigue and corrosion failures.  Personal injuries investigated include trips/falls, manual handling incidents, accidents involving power tools, doors and access equipment accidents, and accidents involving lifting equipment.
