Experience:
Justin spent eight years working in water treatment and chemical process industries, developing bespoke processes for the treatment of potable water, industrial process water and industrial waste waters. Justin worked with clients in the UK, Europe, the US, India and China, in industries including petrochemical, power generation, engineered wood, food and beverage, and bulk chemical manufacturing.
Justin joined Burgoynes’ London office as an Associate in 2006, transferred to the Hong Kong office in 2009 and was promoted to Partner in 2015. He investigates the causes of fires and explosions, including those involving mechanical and electrical equipment and process plant, and has conducted investigations in domestic, commercial and industrial premises. He has also conducted investigations into incidents of process plant failure, mechanical and electrical equipment failure, and burglary. Justin’s marine experience includes the investigation of fires and explosions on bulk carriers, tankers, container vessels and car carriers, providing advice on live fire incidents, investigating and advising on cargo quality disputes and incidents involving IMO dangerous goods.
Justin has prepared expert technical reports for loss adjusters, insurers, and solicitors in anticipation of civil litigation. He has prepared written evidence in accordance with part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules and has presented expert evidence in court in the UK and Asia.
