Experience:

Mark’s career began with a Ministry of Defence (MoD) apprenticeship. He completed an ONC and HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and then went on to earn a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. During his time with the MoD Mark became responsible for the design and integration of electrical equipment in nuclear and conventional ships and submarines. He was also responsible for support facilities required for nuclear vessels undergoing refits.

Since joining the Burgoynes’ Cardiff office as an Associate in 2002 Mark has gained a wealth of experience and he became a Partner in 2014. During 2018 Mark attained Certified Fire Investigator status with the International Association of Arson Investigators and in 2019 he relocated to Melbourne in order to open our Australia office.

Mark has investigated the causes of over 900 fires, explosions and incidents of electrical failures, both in the UK and overseas. He has also investigated personal injuries involving electric shocks and machinery related incidents. His investigations have included incidents at commercial and residential properties, factories, production facilities and on-board ships. Mark has provided advice to counsel on numerous occasions and has presented expert testimony in Court.
