Well done to Mark Slater, a Partner in our Basingstoke office, for completing both of the British Heart Foundation's London to Brighton road and off road cycle races.

Mark completed both events and through sponsorship he raised over £1100 for the charity.  The British Heart Foundation funds around £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases.

Following the second off road race Mark said, “This ride is definitely a challenge but is certainly easier when the weather is with you.  The weather was very kind with the bright sunshine (not too hot) and not too much wind.  It was great to see Brighton from the top of the South Downs and enjoy a cold beverage at the beach.”

The first event took place on 19 June 2022, starting at Clapham Common and after 53 miles reached Brighton seafront, with the minor obstacle of Ditchling Beacon in between.  This was completed in a time of 3 hours and 25 minutes.

The second event took place on 17 September 2022, starting in Walton-on-Thames on a frosty morning and was off road all the way to Brighton, with three rather big ascents (two North Downs and one South Downs), over 61 miles. Mark completed this ride in just under six hours of pedalling time.

Mark would like to say a big thank you to all those who gave their kind support and generous donations and also to Burgoynes for the matched-sponsorship funds, which contributed greatly to reaching this fantastic total.

Further donations can be made via Mark's JustGiving page.
