Burgoynes was proud to sponsor the AICLA Asian Claims Convention 2025 in Osaka, Japan from 13 to 15 May 2025.  The theme this year was ‘Traditional Claims Management in a Digital Age’. 

Dr Jon Sykes, a Partner in our Singapore office, and Portia Pong, an Associate in our Hong Kong office, attended the event.  Jon, a Materials Engineer, specialising in the investigation of materials failures and machinery breakdown losses, presented at the event on the topic of, 'Evolution of Materials and the Investigation of their Failures', starting from the bronze age to the future with 3D printing.  He covered multiple failure modes and investigation examples, and highlighted the challenges in identifying the cause of failure in new engineering materials for which there can be limited available research data.

We thoroughly enjoyed the event and it was a fantastic opportunity to network with claims professionals and share insights from across the region.  Thank you to AICLA for the great event and we hope to see everyone next year at ACC26.
